Lions Gate reups guru trio

Keegan tapped as chief administrative officer

Lions Gate Entertainment has signed its senior management team — Lions Gate Films Releasing president Tom Ortenberg, Lions Gate Films prexy of production Michael Paseornek and Lions Gate Home Entertainment and acquisitions prexy Peter Block — to new multiyear deals, while James Keegan has been hired as chief administrative officer, a newly created post.

The four Los Angeles-based execs report directly to Lions Gate CEO Jon Feltheimer. Details of the new contracts were undisclosed, but they are understood to be for a minimum of three years.

Keegan will oversee Lions Gate’s finance division, administrative activities and information technology initiatives. He also will spearhead the ongoing centralization, streamlining and implementation of Lions Gate’s new accounting and financial control systems and will supervise the day-to-day administrative operations of Lions Gate’s businesses.

“We have set in place our senior management team going forward, and we are now poised to move to a new stage in our company’s disciplined growth and evolution,” Feltheimer said.

Keegan joins the company from his previous post as chief financial officer for Artisan Entertainment. Prior to that, he was a senior financial exec for Trimark Pictures from 1989-98 and before that at Columbia Pictures in various finance positions in the 1980s.

Lions Gate grossed close to $30 million domestically with “Monster’s Ball,” for which Halle Berry won the best actress Oscar. Other recent releases include “Frailty” and “Lantana.”
