The Alliance for Children’s Rights raised more than $920,000 at its ninth annual dinner, at which Fox Entertainment prez Gail Berman was honored with the 2002 National Champion for Children Award.
The amount was a record for the org; more than 1,000 people attended the event Oct. 21 at the BevHilton. Dinner chairmen were Barbara Grushow and WMA’s Sam Haskell.
Honorary co-chairmen were Peter Chernin, prez-chief operating officer for News Corp.; New Regency chairman Arnon Milchan; and Sandy Grushow, chairman of the Fox Television Entertainment Group.
Also in attendance were Bernie Mac and Kiefer Sutherland plus stars from Fox Broadcasting’s “Malcolm in the Middle,” “MADtv,” “American Idol” and “Fastlane.”
Alliance provides impoverished children with free legal, social and medical services. Org is helping nearly 6,000 children each year in L.A. County.
