Bill Humphrey has been tapped prexy of Liberty Livewire’s Media Group, the post-production entity of John Malone’s technology services conglom.
Humphrey will oversee the Santa Monica-based company’s content distribution, DVD manufacturing, vaulting, media asset management, format conversions, telecine services, editing, sound recording and other activities.
He will replace post-production vet John Donlon, who announced his retirement last week, and will report to Liberty Livewire chief operating officer Ken Williams.

Most recently, Humphrey served as chief operating officer of NextLeft, an e-business consulting firm. He also was exec veep of business development, technology and entertainment operations at Turner Broadcasting Systems.
Before that, Humphrey was exec VP of Sony’s Digital Studios, where he developed and managed new products, services and technologies for the digital marketplace, including the creation of Sony’s DVD Center.
He also served as the hardware and software integration liaison with Sony’s professional and consumer product divisions in North America, Japan and Europe, and managed worldwide product fulfillment for Sony Pictures’ TV and homevid markets.
Liberty Livewire was formed several years ago through the acquisition of the entertainment biz’s biggest post-production facilities, including Todd-AO, Soundelux and Four Media Co. The entire entity is made up of 64 facilities worldwide.
