Biz chief Brook exits Eye

Barak upped to senior VP

CBS business affairs chief Harold Brook is leaving the Eye just 15 months after joining the net.

Brook, who had served as exec VP of business affairs, will depart by Friday. Debbie Barak, recently upped to senior VP of business affairs at the net, is expected to assume Brook’s responsibilities.

An Eye spokesman confirmed Brook’s decision to leave, citing his desire “to pursue other opportunities.” Brooks and his boss, CBS Entertainment prexy Nancy Tellem — who’ve worked together since Tellem was at Warner Bros. TV — remain on good terms, the spokesman added.

Exec joined CBS in January 2001, replacing former business affairs chief Marc Graboff, who had left a few months earlier to take the top business affairs post at NBC. Brook chose to leave NBC, where he had worked his way up to head of business affairs after 14 years at the net, rather than report to Graboff.

Before her recent promotion, Barak served as senior VP of business planning and special projects for CBS, working on new-media deals and co-production agreements. From 1997-2000, she was VP and associate general counsel for the Eye, having been deputy West Coast counsel since 1991.
