‘Angel’ in, ‘Max’ out at CBS

Move puts Lansbury back on Sundays

The May sweeps is turning into a night-by-night battle, with networks continuing to tweak their skeds for maximum ratings advantage.

In the latest twist, CBS has decided to dump this Sunday’s planned episode of “The Education of Max Bickford” in favor of a seg of “Touched by an Angel” that was slated to be the skein’s season finale. In addition to returning “Touched” to its longtime Sunday 8 p.m. perch, the move also puts Angela Lansbury back on Sundays. That’s because the former “Murder, She Wrote” star has a guest turn on the “Touched” episode.

“Bickford” will now get just one airing in sweeps, on May 12. And while this Sunday’s “Touched” episode is technically the show’s season finale, original episodes will still air on Saturdays throughout the May ratings period.

Fox has also made some sweeps changes, subbing out last night’s announced episode of “Greg the Bunny” for a double “Bernie Mac” attack.
