Warner Bros. has acquired tyro April Blair’s spec script “Major Movie Star” for nearly $300,000 against $600,000.
Described as a “Legally Blonde” in combat boots, laffer follows a somewhat naive pop singer and her desperate attempts to win approval from a producer and a studio that think her unsuitable for their upcoming military-themed pic. To prove them wrong and win the role, the bubble-gum warbler enlists in the Army.
Warner Bros. veepee of production Polly Cohen will oversee development with director of development Dan Lin. WB senior veepee of biz affairs Dan Furie negotiated for the studio.
Blair is unsigned as yet by a percentery; deal was brokered by her reps at management concern Benderspink, who will also produce in some capacity.
