Eric Eason’s “Manito” and Bertha Bay-Sa Pan’s “Face” were among the grand jury prize winners at the sixth annual Urbanworld Film Festival.
Drama “Manito” picked up the feature film award, Pan won the best director prize for “Face.” Other grand jury prizes went to Grace Lee’s short “Barrier Device” and to Deborah Goodwin’s screenplay “Cherrys.” Writer-director Brin Hill received a special creative writing award for his short “Morning Breath.”
Festival wrapped up in Gotham on Sunday night. Grand jury prize package includes film stock, post-production services and apparel.
Neema Barnette’s “Civil Brand” went home with the audience award for best pic as well as a special jury award.
Festival sponsor HBO recognized Rick Derby’s documentary feature “Rocks With Wings” and short doc “Ocoee: Legacy of the Election Day Massacre,” from co-helmers Sandra Krasa and Bianca White. HBO’s prizes are worth $5,000 and $2,500, respectively.
