Stan Winston has been tapped to create the animatronic cyborg and make-up f/x for “Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines.”
Winston created the T-800 robot for the first “Terminator” and won Oscars for visual f/x and makeup for his work on “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”
Pic’s $170 million budget should give Winston and returning f/x house Industrial Light & Magic (Daily Variety, Jan. 10) plenty of coin to play with in order to top the visuals they created in the first two installments.
The Arnold Schwarzenegger actioner, which is being produced by C-2 Pictures and Intermedia, will be distribbed by Warner Bros. in 2003. It begins lensing in April under the helm of Jonathan Mostow.
Most recently, Winston created creatures, robots and other f/x for “The Time Machine,” “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” and “Jurassic Park III.”
“Stan is a true creative visionary whose unique artistry has been integral to the ongoing success of the ‘Terminator’ series,” said C-2’s Andy Vajna. “Needless to say, we are thrilled to have him on board for the third installment.”
