Sound editors tap noms for Golden Reel Awards

Editing for effects and foley, ADR and dialogue, TV up for grabs

The Motion Picture Sound Editors org has made its 2001 nominations for the 49th Annual Golden Reel Awards.

Noms for sound editing — effects and foley — in a domestic feature film were handed to “AI: Artificial Intelligence,” “Black Hawk Down,” “The Fast and the Furious,” “Jurassic Park III,” “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” “The Mummy Returns,” “Pearl Harbor,” “Planet of the Apes” and “Spy Game.”

In the category of sound editing — dialogue and ADR — in a domestic feature film, noms are “AI: Artificial Intelligence,” “A Beautiful Mind,” “Black Hawk Down,” “Cats and Dogs,” “The Fast and the Furious,” “Ocean’s 11,” “Pearl Harbor,” “Planet of the Apes,” “Spy Game” and “Vanilla Sky.”

Noms for best sound editing in a foreign film went to “Amelie,” “Behind the Sun,” “Enemy at the Gates,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings,” “Moulin Rouge,” “The Princess and the Warrior” and “Time and Tide.”

Vying for sound editing in a television series are “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “The District,” “ER,” “Smallville,” “Third Watch,” “UC: Undercover” and “X-Files.”

Awards will be presented at a banquet March 23 at the Century Plaza Hotel.
