PARIS — French actress Virginie Ledoyen will be the mistress of ceremonies at the 55th Cannes Film Festival, presiding over the fest’s opening and closing ceremonies May 15 and 26.
Festivities will be produced by Canal Plus managing director Michel Denisot and air live and unscrambled on the Gallic pay TV service.
Ledoyen, who also emceed in 2000, is set to star in Jean-Paul Rappeneau’s “Bon Voyage,” with Isabelle Adjani and Rupert Everett.
She is currently starring in Francois Ozon’s box office smash “8 Femmes.” Pic, which also stars Catherine Deneuve, Fanny Ardant and Emmanuelle Beart, racked up €6 million($5.28 million) in foreign presales (the same amount as Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s “Amelie”) and has grossed $16.75 million worldwide. USA Films bought the film for the U.S. for nearly $1 million and will open it Stateside later this year.
