David Goyer, author of New Line Cinema’s “Blade” franchise, has inked with the studio to direct another vampire tale with sequel potential, “Darksiders.” New Line plans to start production in the third quarter.
Produced by Tracie Graham and Alison Rosenzweig (“Windtalkers”), “Darksiders” follows a band of bloodsuckers turned into special operatives for the FBI. Given the bloodlust they show for their work, the vampires are closely monitored by the government agency. Script was penned by Tom Parker and Jim Jennewein.
New Line prexy Toby Emmerich and exec Michele Weiss will steer the project with exec VP Lynn Harris, who also oversees “Blade.”
Goyer, who’s now on tap to write the third “Blade” installment, first worked with New Line on 1998 pic “Dark City.” He also adapted and directed “ZigZag,” based on the novel by Landon J. Napoleon. That pic made its premiere earlier this month at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas.
