Feature spinoff ads to success

World Brief

Helmer Soren Fauli’s “Polle Ficion,” the feature spinoff from telco Sonofon’s commercials about a village fool, has become the third-largest opening local film in Denmark.

“Polle” was blasted by critics, but filmgoers loved the $1.6 million pic. Some 81,000 tickets were sold last weekend, and Michael Fleischer, topper of distrib SF Film, estimates pic will go on to sell 250,000.

Pic stars Jens Andersen and Per Otto Bersang Rasmussen, who is part of the team behind the advertising campaign along with Fauli.

FilmPeople producers Thomas Lydholm and Jonas Allen insist that pic is not an extended Sonofon commercial, adding: “Box office figures confirm it works as a feature. It is a film for the people.”
