HOLLYWOOD — Actor Clifton Collins Jr. has landed inside the ring opposite John Leguizamo for HBO boxing project “Infamous.”
Scripted by Frank Pugliese from a story by Leguizamo and Kathy DeMarco, pic tells the story of a Latino boxer (Leguizamo) who, while struggling with the death of his brother, looks to a former boxer, played by Collins, to help him defend his welter-weight championship.
Production is skedded to start next month in Gotham.
In addition to starring, Leguizamo will co-helm with Enrique Shadyac, and is also taking an executive producer credit.
While Collins, who recently wrapped “Mindhunters,” has been steadily working for years (“One Eight Seven,” “Light It Up”), it was his back-to-back roles in “Traffic” and “Tigerland” that put him on the map. He has since co-starred in “The Last Castle” and will next be seen in “The Rules of Attraction” and “American Girl.”
