Columbia Pictures has gone and jumped into “Lake Powell,” a supernatural pitch it has just acquired from the Lloyd Entertainment Co. for low-six figures.
Prexy Lauren Lloyd, a former exec VP of production at the studio, will produce the pic.
Story centers on a family that inadvertently desecrates some Native American burial grounds while vacationing at the Arizona lake, unleashing a terrible supernatural force that threatens their lives.
Michael Kase will pen the script. Project will be supervised by Col exec VP of production Doug Belgrad and by Lloyd’s own newly upped development exec, Caroline Rault.
“She is fearless and inventive,” said Lloyd of the Rault promotion. “She kicks ass, and I am glad to work with her.”
Rault had spent the previous four years at 20th Century Fox’s feature casting department. In addition to assisting with producing chores, Rault will help guide the careers of Lloyd’s management clients like Devon Sawa (“Final Destination”), Joe Manganiello (“Spider-Man”) and Amanda Foreman (“Felicity”).
