MADRID — Francis Ford Coppola will be feted at the upcoming 50th San Sebastian Intl. Film Festival (Sept. 19-28), where he will receive an unique San Sebastian Special 50th Anniversary Award.
Coppola will attend the festival to pick up the plaudit on Sept. 21. Tribute renews a long-term relationship between Coppola and San Sebastian that began in 1969, when the helmer won the fest’s Golden Shell feature gong for “The Rain People.”
Confirming final additions to this year’s lineup, the fest has announced that Daniele Thompson’s contempo romantic comedy “Decalage Horaire,” toplining Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno, will close the official selection, screening out of competition.
Wim Wenders will head the official selection jury. Its other members are French actress Ariane Ascaride, Spanish helmer Mariano Barroso, vet Swiss cinematographer Renato Berta, Thai director Chatrichalerm Yukol, Cuban actress Mirta Ibarra and Brit director Angela Pope.
