‘Confidence’ boosted by Lions Gate’s sales

Lions Gate Films Intl. has completed a raft of sales on its upcoming pic “Confidence.”

Pic wrapped shooting this week in L.A. for helmer James Foley and cast Dustin Hoffman, Andy Garcia, Edward Burns and Rachel Weisz. “Confidence,” penned by newcomer Doug Jung is the story of a master con man who inadvertently swindles the accountant of a mob kingpin and sets up an elaborate scam in order to repay the money. Ensemble cast also includes Robert Loggia, Paul Giamatti, Brian Van Holt and Luis Guzman.

Deals inked are with Momentum for the U.K., Metropolitan for France, Medusa for Italy, Planeta for Spain, Romance for Benelux, Scanbox for Scandinavia, LNK for Portugal, Sun for Latin America, and Hoyts for Australia and New Zealand. Other territories sold include Hong Kong (Golden Harvest), Croatia (Discovery), Czech Republic and Slovakia (AQS), Iceland (Myndform), Israel (Shani), Middle East (Eagle Films), Poland (Vision), Serbia (Provision), Thailand (Right Beyond), Russia (Central Partnership), Taiwan (CMC Magnetics), Turkey (R Films) and the Baltics (Artdo).
