Scribe duo Derek Guiley and David Schneiderman delivered two different storylines for a pitch to Sony’s nascent feature animation division heads Penney Finkelman Cox and Sandy Rabins. To their surprise and delight, the studio nabbed both of them.
In a deal worth high-six figures, studio has commissioned the scribes to develop both of the pitches into separate, untitled scripts. Sony is keeping both storylines under wraps.
Finkelman Cox and Rabins will oversee both projects. Before joining Sony, they started the DreamWorks’ toon division, shepherding such projects as “Antz,” “Prince of Egypt” and Academy Award-winner “Shrek,” on which they were exec producers.
Guiley and Schneiderman previously sold their first spec, “First Daughter,” to Alcon Entertainment. Project is being fast-tracked in direct competition to a similar project set up at New Regency.
The scribe duo, repped by ICM and manager Ilan Breil of LMRK, also penned “Parent Trap 2” for Disney, and had developed a script for writer/producer Michael Schiffer.
