Visual effects supervisor Steffen Wild and key team members responsible for the f/x behind “Independence Day,” “Godzilla,” “Stuart Little” and “The Faculty” have formed production shingle Cirque Media, which will provide f/x production services to feature, television and commercial producers.
Cirque Media already has developed proprietary pre-visualization technology and production management software that decreases the cost of animation and special effects production. Company plans to license the software to studio productions, enabling them to manage overseas f/x and animation production from the U.S.
The Los Angeles-based company also plans to develop and produce animated and f/x-driven feature films, with three expected to begin lensing this year. Ranging from $1 million to $3 million, the privately financed pics will be targeted to younger auds, with “Pegasus” the first pic planned. William Katt will direct from a screenplay by Glen Stephens.
Wild is credited with helping to create and operate Centropolis Effects for filmmakers Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin (“Independence Day”).
