Venevision sets Miami yakker, soap series

Distrib plans on 260 episodes over a year

MIAMI — Venevision Intl. will begin production on talker “Marta Susana,” hosted by the journalist who had her own show on Mexico’s Televisa, during the first week of September.

The Miami-based distributor-producer plans to turn out 260 episodes of the yakker over 12 months.

“Marta Susana” is scheduled to bow on U.S. Hispanic net Univision in October as a daily one-hour strip. Venevision Intl. will market the show internationally.

Separately, Venevision Intl. is in pre-production on a new soap opera, tentatively called “Volver a Verte” (To See You Again).

The sudser, set and filmed in Miami, will follow the life and loves of a Latin American woman dealing with the political and social problems of her unspecified homeland. The soap’s 120 one-hour episodes will feature exterior shots in Miami and Miami Beach.

The company has been seeking to develop a project portraying a contemporary immigrant experience to which Spanish-lingo TV viewers in the U.S. and Latin America can relate.

Venevision Intl. has other novelas in production in Latin America, including the erotic “Latin Lover,” a co-production with Playboy TV Intl.
