Studios USA Domestic TV’s weekly action hour “Cleopatra 2525” will not be returning to broadcast syndication next season.
Skein had originally been half of the “Back 2 Back” action series (along with “Jack of All Trades”) that debuted in January 2000, largely in time periods that had been occupied by the now-defunct “Hercules.”
Production on “Cleo” was put on hiatus in September, and in October SUDT said that the show would be morphed into an hour so that “Back 2 Back” would consist only of “Cleo,” with “Jack” going by the wayside. At that time, SUDT was also canceling its high-profile actioner “Xena” (Daily Variety, Oct. 16, 2000).
A statement released by SUDT indicated that in the future, the company would pursue distribution deals for weekly actioners that follow the dual platform production and distrib model it uses for “Invisible Man,” which airs on Sci Fi and in broadcast syndication.
“Invisible” will be returning for another season.
