Show targets Latin music

Venevision, HTV pact for half-hour program

MIAMI — Producer-distrib Venevision Intl. and Latin music feevee HTV have inked a deal to co-produce a Spanish-lingo music magazine for open-air broadcasters.

Showcasing Caribbean music and ballads, the half-hour program will highlight groups that don’t traditionally get much attention on music shows or channels; show will aim to attract a demographic older than the typical rock and pop fan.

Venevision Intl., part of the Cisneros Group, will distribute the program. It has been ramping up its production slate over the past few years and now has studios, production and post-production capacity in Miami.

Miami-based HTV is the Latin music channel in the portfolio of the Cisneros TV Group, a pay TV programmer now part of Claxson Interactive Group, in which the Cisneros Group and Hicks Muse are shareholders. HTV will provide the music content.
