WNBC has snagged 33 New York Emmy nominations, topping all other Gotham broadcast outlets.
The Peacock flagship picked up noms in several major categories, including best single newscast, outstanding investigative journalism, event coverage and promo announcement. Its “Christmas at Rockefeller Center” and “New York Magazine Awards” specials picked up a nom each for best entertainment programming.
WNYW garnered the second-highest noms tally, with 27, while pubcaster WNET earned 25 noms. Cabler News 12 Long Island placed fourth with 22 noms, followed by WABC (18), WPIX (15), MSG Network (11), WWOR (9), Metro Channels (8) and Fox Sports (7). WCBS earned two noms.
WNET’s “Egg: The Arts Show” is guaranteed a win in the two arts programming categories, since it was the only show nominated. WNYW received four of the five noms in the single hard-news-story category. The Fox O&O also dominated the outstanding investigative journalism category, garnering three out of five noms.
The New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the noms Wednesday. Statuettes will be handed out May 6 during a ceremony at Gotham’s Grand Hyatt Hotel.
