‘Moral’: Another frosh fails

Skein joins 'Laura,' 'HouseCalls' in failure bin

Syndie gaveler “Moral Court” can be added to the docket of frosh shows that will not be coming back for a second season this fall.

The Larry Elder-hosted skein joins at least five other rookie strips unable to secure renewals. “Dr. Laura,” “HouseCalls,” “Lover or Loser,” “Curtis Court,” and “Men Are From Mars, When Are From Venus” are likewise not expected to be found on the air come fall.

“Moral’s” distribber Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution had been aggressively attempting to revive the show despite lackluster ratings perfs.

Series, produced by Stu Billet Prods., was able to earn time period upgrades in the nation’s top two markets, Gotham and Los Angeles, earlier this season.

When the skein bowed in October, it initially was relegated to latenight in those cities, but the move to more favorable timeslots in New York and L.A. did little to boost the national household rating.

“Moral Court” earned an average 0.7 national household rating in its debut, the week ending Oct. 8, according to Nielsen.

During the most recent week for which Nielsen figures are available, the week ending May 13, the show earned a 0.9.
