HBO, trying to salvage its well-reviewed “Curb Your Enthusiasm” comedy series by shifting the time period, came up with only mediocre ratings Sunday.
The quirky comedy, starring “Seinfeld” co-creator and head writer Larry David, managed only a 5.5 primetime rating in HBO homes Sunday at 10. That number parallels the 5.4 rating chalked up by “Mind of the Married Man,” which most critics have found less than side-splitting, in the same time period the prior week.
Both “Enthusiasm” and “Married” have squandered the huge audience harvested by the weekly hourlong episodes of WWII mini “Band of Brothers.”
“Brothers” has drawn an 11.7 rating average in HBO homes during the past three weeks in its 9 p.m. Sunday time period, an excellent number considering each episode is available three more times during the week and gets additional plays on the HBO Plus multiplex channel.
