Fox Sports renews soccer rights

Latin America unit to air 3 matches weekly

MIAMI — Fox Sports Latin America has renewed its Mexican soccer league rights for three years, covering cable and satellite distribution in Mexico and the rest of Spanish-speaking Latin America.

Under an agreement with No. 2 broadcaster Television Azteca, Fox Sports Latin America will air three soccer matches a week, beginning with the 2001 winter tourney.

The channel will transmit 51 regular-season games of the winter tournament and a similar number of the 2002 summer tournament, plus playoffs.

Playoff games will be shown live in Mexico and the rest of Spanish-speaking Latin America, dictated by which teams advance.
