Fox channeling net for Spanish market

Net to bow 24-hour channel June 1

MIAMI — Fox will bow a branded, 24-hour general entertainment channel in Spain on June 1, its first such venture in the Euro pay TV market.

It joins the territory’s existing Fox channels, Fox Kids Network, Fox News Channel and the National Geographic Channel.

Cristina Gomez has been appointed general manager of the channel, which will target 18- to 34-year-olds. She joins Fox from the Estilo channel, a joint venture between E! Entertainment and Spain’s Sogecable.

Available via Canal Satellite Digital’s basic tier as well as major cable operators, it will combine programming from the 20th Century Fox film and television libraries including “The Simpsons,” “The X-Files” and “NYPD Blue.”
