NEW YORK — Fox Television Stations has terminated its sales representation agreement with Petry Media Corp. and is forming a new inhouse sales division.

Beginning June 26, Fox TV Stations will handle the national sales for its television stations through its new division Fox Station Sales.

“We appreciate all of Petry’s sales efforts for our stations over the past four years. We now look forward to operating in-house the very best national television sales organization in the country,” said Jim Burke, prexy of sales of Fox Television Stations, who emphasized that “this has absolutely nothing to do with the performance of Petry.”

Petry inked a 15-year deal with Fox TV Stations in 1997. At that time, Petry formed the Fox Television Sales division, which handled ad sales for the Fox O&Os alone.

It seems likely that without the Fox TV Stations deal, Petry will fold Fox Television Sales. A Petry rep was not available for comment.

Debbie Carpenter has been named senior VP, Fox Station Sales, overseeing the new operation. Carpenter, who was most recently VP/general manager of Fox O&O WTTG in Washington, D.C., will be based in Gotham. Separately, Fox TV Stations chairman-CEO Mitch Stern recently relocated to Gotham.

Fox Station Sales will be staffing offices in 15-plus cities.
