‘Coach,’ ‘Plum’ head to WB

Frog plans midseason series

HOLLYWOOD — The WB is beefing up its midseason comedy slate, ordering “Cedric the Coach” and “The (Mis)Adventures of Fiona Plum” as backup series.

ATG-produced “Coach” stars comic Cedric the Entertainer (“The Steve Harvey Show”) as a divorced dad and the coach of the losingest team in the NBA. Skein is from exec producers John Bowman, Matt Wickline and Stan Lathan.

“Fiona Plum,” from Studios USA, is about a spoiled witch (Kelly Brook) who’s forced to become the nanny for a human family. Jonathan Prince created the series.

Frog is targeting “Cedric” as a possible addition to its Sunday laffer lineup, while “Fiona Plum” fits in with the young femme-skewing Friday comedy block anchored by “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.”

Previously announced midseason orders at the WB include “The Young Person’s Guide to Being a Rock Star” and “For Your Love.” Two other skeins, “Glory Days” and “No Boundaries,” are sharing slots with other WB series and will bow midseason.
