Canal blocked on PPV

World Brief

Digital satellite platform TPS has successfully blocked Canal Plus from buying any more exclusive pay-per-view cinema rights.

A French competition court ordered Canal Plus and its PPV company Kiosque to stop immediately.

Friday’s decision is the latest move in a long battle between TPS and Canal Plus.

In January, TPS approached the Competition Court about Canal Plus’ “anti-competition” practices and complained that Canal Plus had ignored warnings from the Competition Court.

TPS is owned by TF1, M6, France Television Enterprises and Suez Lyonnaise.
