Argentina net seeks protection

World Brief

Fourth-ranked broadcaster America TV filed for protection from creditors Tuesday as a prolonged recession cuts into its advertising sales and blocks its access to fresh financing.

The filing, similar to Chapter 11 in the U.S., aims to buy the channel time to renegotiate debt payments. America TV owes at least $50 million to suppliers and independent producers and another $70 million to Liberty Media.
