Vet thesps set for Eye's 'Loomis'

Cheri Oteri has a new mom and dad: Philip Baker Hall (“Magnolia”) and Shirley Knight (“As Good as It Gets”).

Veteran thesps have signed on to star as Oteri’s parents in the Oteri-led comedy pilot “Loomis,” which is being produced for CBS by 20th Century Fox Television and CBS Prods. Oteri stars as a local news reporter who dreams of becoming a national talkshow host.

Hall will play Oteri’s gruff but lovable dad, “Big Jack.” Knight is set as Oteri’s mother, Trish, an eccentric woman who tends to side with her slacker son (Will Arnett) rather than her more accomplished daughter.

In addition to “Magnolia,” Hall’s recent credits include “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “The Insider.” He’ll also appear in Par’s upcoming Ben Affleck starrer “The Sum of All Fears.”

Knight recently starred opposite Faith Ford in the short-lived Eye laffer “Maggie Winters.”

Gary Janetti is the scribe and exec producer of “Loomis.” Michael Lembeck is attached to direct the pilot.
