LAS VEGAS — How many personalities does it take to replace Cybill?
The answer: five.
Five people, including Dr. Drew Pinsky, will serve as panelists on the Columbia TriStar TV Distribution (CTTD) show “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus,” replacing current host Cybill Shepherd.
Change in format follows last week’s news that CTTD was exploring new content scenarios for the show that might mean Shepherd would ankle the frosh show, which has generally earned no higher than a 1.0 national household rating in its debut season (Daily Variety, Jan. 17).
The four personalities slated to join Pinsky are L.A. radio host and former Penthouse Pet Sam Phillips; Miami radio host Bo Griffin; comedian Rondell Sheridan, of former UPN skein “Minor Adjustments”; and Cristina Ferrare, who has appeared as a co-host on “Live With Regis.”
CTTD also went after Asha Blake, one of the hosts of “Later Today,” but a deal could not be struck.
New incarnation of the show is described as a cross between “Politically Incorrect” and “The View,” with a focus on relationships. It isn’t clear when the changes are due to take effect.
Two other panel projects have been developed with similar slants this year for potential fall syndie debuts.
NBC and Twentieth Television have each been working on projects described as male versions of “The View.”
A CTTD spokeswoman declined to comment.
