Show gets greenlight, 'Date' set to go longer

HOLLYWOOD — Universal Worldwide Television on Friday made its official production commitment on upcoming syndie relationship strip “The Fifth Wheel.”

Although the company had already cleared the show widely on TV stations across the country for a fall debut in broadcast syndication, it had not yet given the go-ahead on the series’ production.

Company also announced that production on the third season of “Blind Date” is set to go and that UWT’s relationship with Tribune Entertainment, which sells domestic barter ad time for “Blind Date,” will be extended to include domestic barter ad sales for “The Fifth Wheel.”

Both shows are cleared on TV stations repping coverage of more than 90% of the country for the fall.
