Caliendo to be regular on ‘Mad TV’

Fox laffer also adds on two new recurring comics: Lee, Killam

Believe the “Hype”: Frank Caliendo has joined the cast of Fox’s “Mad TV.”

Caliendo, who appeared last season on the WB’s short-lived sketch comedy skein “Hype,” will now be a regular on Fox’s veteran latenight series. He’ll make his first appearance on the show’s seventh season premiere, skedded for Sept. 22 at 11 p.m.

In addition to his “Hype” gig, Caliendo has done stand-up on “The View” and the Craig Kilborn-hosted “Late, Late Show.”

“Mad” is also adding two new recurring cast members: Comics Bobby Lee and Taran Killam.

Lee recently had a recurring role in the HBO laffer “Arliss.” Killam has completed production on the feature pic “Pay or Play,” starring Frankie Muniz (“Malcolm in the Middle.”)

Original cast member Nicole Sullivan is reducing her workload on “Mad” this season; she’ll now be a recurring member of the cast. Not returning are Nelson Ascencio and Christian Duguay.

Returning cast members include Alex Borstein, Mo Collins, Andrew Daly, Michael McDonald, Will Sasso, Aries Spears, Stephnie Weir and Debra Wilson.

Dick Blasucci, David Salzman and Quincy Jones are exec producers of “Mad TV.”
