Eddra Gale

Eddra Gale, longtime stage and screen actress perhaps best remembered for her performance as La Saraghina in the 1963 Fellini film “8-1/2,” died May 13 in Deming, N.M., of complications following a stroke. She was 80.

A native of Chicago, Gale began her career as an opera singer. She later moved to Rome and enjoyed a successful career as a concert singer, which led to film roles in “Tutto e Musica” and “Gidget Goes to Rome.”

Additional film credits included her playing Anna Fassbender in “What’s New Pussycat” (1965), “Hotel Paradiso” (1966), “The Graduate” (1967), “I Love You, Alice B. Toklas” (1968), “The Maltese Bippy” (1969), “The Strawberry Statement” (1970), “Revenge of the Cheerleaders” (1976) and “Somewhere in Time” (1980).

TV appearances included “Dragnet 1967,” “The High Chaparral” and “The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries” (1977).

She is survived by a niece.
