Carol Lee Keis

Carol Lee Keis, commercial and legit actress, died April 9 of breast cancer at Clear Lake Regional Hospital near Galveston, Texas. She was 44.

A 1980 graduate of the U. of Texas, Austin, she earned a master of fine arts degree from CalArts in 1982. She was a member of Actor’s Alley and the Road Theatre companies.

With Actor’s Alley, she appeared in “The Dybbuk,” “Cantorial,” “Crossing Delancy,” “The Killing of Sister George,” “Three By Tenn” and “Jake’s Women.”

She also served as assistant director of public relations for Hanna-Barbera.

Her final performance was last summer in “Three Sisters” at the El Portal Center for the Arts in North Hollywood.

She is survived by her mother.

A celebration of her life will be held 6 p.m. Sunday in the Circle Theatre at the El Portal in North Hollywood.

Family suggests donations in her name be made to a the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
