‘Rent’ down; ‘Fever’ up

Road grosses slip .6%

NEW YORK — Road grosses slipped slightly during Week 47 (April 16-22), falling off to $15,139,127, a drop of a mere .6% from the prior frame. There were 22 shows on the boards.

After a stellar week in Boston, during which it set a town record for a single-week engagement at more than $1.5 million, “Rent” came down to earth in Wallingford, Conn., taking just $357,213.

Also having an off week was “Cabaret” in Toronto, earning just $241,280.

There was better news from San Francisco, where “Saturday Night Fever” got a boost to $924,521 of a potential $1,086,964 during its second week.
