Warner Bros. Pictures is optioning the mystery novel “Open Season,” with Arnold Rifkin and Bruce Willis’ Cheyenne Enterprises attached to produce.
Penned by tyro novelist C.J. Box, “Open Season” is the story of a dedicated but decidedly imperfect Wyoming game warden who finds the body of a well-known poacher in his own backyard. That puts him on the road to finding more bodies — while his life and career and life are in peril. Book was published in July by Putnam.
Scott Goldman, who is also producing the project, brought the book to Cheyenne production exec David Wally.
Box is managed by Darby Parker and repped by Colden McKuin & Frankel, with Andy Welchel repping the novel. Goldman is repped by attorney Erik Feig.
