BERLIN — Wolfgang R. Hofmann has been named new head of project and company financing at German producer/distrib VCL Film and Medien.
Hofmann, 49, is to play a vital link between the company and domestic and international film and media funds. Formerly in charge of special financing at Berliner Bank, Hofmann is expected to build up VCL’s financing division and oversee licensing, mergers and acquisitions.
Company is facing a DM 10 million ($4.5 million) lawsuit filed by Starlight Film Prod., which claims VCL failed to fulfill certain promises after it took over the firm’s rights holdings in 1999. VCL put the acquired rights catalog into the newly formed Starlight Neue Film and Medien, while the original Starlight Film Prod. was to be liquidated.
VCL said the claims are unsubstantiated.
