Urbanworld into Rosenfeld’s ‘Jungle’

Distrib plans a limited fall release

Urbanworld Films has picked up international theatrical rights to “King of the Jungle,” written and directed by Seth Zvi Rosenfeld and starring John Leguizamo, Rosie Perez, Michael Rapaport, Annabella Sciorra and Marisa Tomei.

“King,” which premiered at the 2000 Los Angeles Independent Film Fest, features Leguizamo as a mentally challenged New Yorker who launches a vendetta against the assassins of his activist-mother. Pic also stars Julie Carmen, Rosario Dawson, Cliff Gorman and Justin Pierce.

Bob Potter and Forensic Films’ Scott Macaulay and Robin O’Hara produced the film, which was exec produced by Leguizamo, Steven Bram and Urbanworld Films prexy Stacy Spikes.

Together again

“King” reps the second time Rosenfeld has worked with Leguizamo, Perez, Pierce, Rapaport and Tomei, all of whom appeared in “A Brother’s Kiss,” a 1997 feature based on his play of the same name. Rosenfeld’s credits also include a segment of “Subway Stories: Tales From the Underground” and the script for the 1996 pic “Sunset Park.”
