“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” newly crowned Oscar winner for foreign-language film, will be released on videocassette and DVD June 5 by Columbia TriStar Home Video.
The Mandarin-language winner of four Academy Awards will be released in subtitled and dubbed versions on videocassette, and in Mandarin, English and French versions with English or French subtitles on DVD.
Among the supplemental material on the DVD version of the movie that has generated more domestic box office revenue than any other foreign-language film (about $106 million) is an audio commentary track by director-producer Ang Lee and executive producer/co-scripter James Schamus.
The two-hour movie, which also won Oscars for cinematography, art direction and original score, will be presented in anamorphic widescreen on DVD in 5.1 channel Dolby Digital.
The VHS edition is priced for the rental market while the DVD is priced at $27.96.
Star Michelle Yeoh is featured in the short behind-the-scenes special “Unleashing the Dragon,” which premiered on the Bravo cable network.
