‘Shine’ duo polishing up ‘Love’s’ pic

Ribisi, Garcia, Byrne set for Aussie romantic comedy

SYDNEY — “Shine” producer Jane Scott and writer Jan Sardi are re-teaming on “Love’s Brother,” a romantic comedy that will be Sardi’s helming debut.

Giovanni Ribisi (“The Gift”), and Aussies Adam Garcia (“Coyote Ugly”) and Rose Byrne (“The Goddess of 1967”) have been signed to topline in the 1950s-set saga of a bride who arrives Down Under from Italy and falls madly in love with her husband’s brother.

The Australian-U.K. co-production is funded by the Australian Film Finance Corp. and private investors in Blighty. Palace has collared Oz rights and Mikado will release in Italy.

Scott, who is sharing producer chores with London-based Sarah Radclyffe, said she is finalizing a deal with an international sales agent.

She aims to begin pre-production in November, with filming to take place in Tuscany, Italy, and Australia early next year.

The FFC also is funding telepic “Secret Bridesmaids’ Business,” from “Muriel’s Wedding” producer Lynda House. Based on a play by Elizabeth Coleman, it will be directed by Lynne-Maree Danzey for Oz pubcaster ABC and foreign distrib Beyond.
