MONTREAL — Salter Street Films announced Wednesday that Deborah Carver has been tapped general manager and veep of marketing for the Independent Film Channel Canada, Salter Street’s new indie-film specialty outlet.
Carver began at Halifax-based Salter Street as director of business affairs for Salter Street Films Intl., the company’s global sales arm, and was later upped to VP, communications.
“We are delighted that (Carver) will bring her strong marketing skills and knowledge of the independent film scene to the creation and launch of the Independent Film Channel Canada,” said Salter Street prexy Catherine Tait.
The IFCC, the country’s first specialty service devoted to indie film, is scheduled to launch this September. The channel has a marketing and branding arrangement with the Independent Film Channel in the U.S.
Last month, Alliance Atlantis took-over Salter Street Films in a C$82 million ($54.3 million) deal thought to have been driven by Alliance Atlantis’ desire to add the Independent Film Channel Canada to its stable of specialty webs.
