OTTFilm, UIP in distrib deal

'No Regrets' is agreement's first release

LONDON — OTTFilm, the new German distrib of former Senator Entertainment exec Christoph Ott, has signed a distribution deal with UIP.

UIP will begin handling OTTFilm product Nov. 15 with the release of its first acquisition, Benjamin Quabeck’s “No Regrets,” which won the prestigious Hypovereinpreis at this year’s Munich Film Festival.

“When we can successfully release audience grabbers from local production, then the entire marketplace will profit, as contributions from France, Denmark, Spain and the U.K. clearly have proven in 2000,” said Paul Steinschulte, general manager for UIP Germany.

Further OTTFilm acquisitions include Robert Altman’s “Gosford Park” and Woody Allen’s “The Curse of the Jade Scorpion,” which come via an agreement with film and video group VCL Film + Medien.

OTTFilm is backed by German post-production heavyweight Das Werk.
