Studio Canal and its romantic comedy “Jet Lag” won’t be grounded after all.
Amid heightened security concerns at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport in recent weeks, the pic looked like it would be unable to get permission to film onsite.
But helmer Daniele Thompson (“La Buche”) managed to land personal clearance for a five-day shoot from France’s interior minister.
The rest of the pic, which stars Jean Reno and Juliette Binoche in the story of an encounter between a world-weary businessman and a troubled beautician, will be shot at a smaller regional airport.
Separately, Studio Canal, Viv U’s Euro film arm, also has in the works Emir Kusturica’s “Hungry Hearts,” the first of a three-picture development deal with the Yugoslav filmmaker inked two months ago.
Pic will start a 26-week shoot in Yugoslavia in FebruaryStudio Canal also has boarded an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s “The Ground Beneath her Feet,” helmed by Raoul Ruiz and starring Salma Hayek. Shooting is expected to begin in April.
