Production shingle Lynch/Siderow has optioned the story rights for Jim Thebaut’s 1992 HBO documentary, “The Iceman Tapes — Conversations With a Killer,” which the company plans to produce as a feature film.
Financials from the deal were not disclosed, but the company has optioned the rights for one year.
“The Iceman” will be a dramatization of the life of Mafia killer-for-hire Richard Kuklinski, a family man who led a seemingly normal existence but committed more than 100 contract murders over a 30-year period.
John Lynch, formerly of Lynch Entertainment, and Norman Siderow, former president of Harmony Gold Prods., will produce the pic with Thebaut.
“We were mesmerized by this story because it is a grisly comment about abuse victims and how someone can become a cold-blooded killer,” Siderow said.
Pic is tentatively skedded to begin lensing in early 2002.
