Brett Dicker, a 14-year vet of Disney’s marketing department, has been promoted to executive vice president of marketing for Buena Vista Pictures Marketing.
In the newly created post, he reports to marketing prexy Oren Aviv. Dicker will be involved in all aspects of developing and implementing marketing campaigns and strategies for motion pictures released under the Walt Disney, Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures banners.
His areas of responsibility include publicity, promotions and advertising. Dicker continues to oversee all aspects of worldwide national promotions.
“Brett has done an incredible job over the past 14 years overseeing the areas of national promotions and field marketing, and now he will be applying his expertise to all elements of our marketing campaigns, including positioning our films and dealing with filmmakers on various marketing-related issues,” Aviv said.
Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group chairman Richard Cook added: “Brett has been instrumental in forging Disney’s national promotional partner relationships over the past decade and was the lead point person in negotiating the studio’s historic 10-year alliance with McDonald’s in 1997.”
For the past year, Dicker has served as senior veep of worldwide promotions for the Walt Disney Studios. He has been responsible for overseeing all promotional activities related to Disney’s film, TV and home entertainment divisions. Prior to that, he held the post of senior veep of national promotions and marketing for Buena Vista Pictures Marketing beginning in 1995.
Dicker began his tenure at the Mouse House in 1987 as director of promotions for Walt Disney Pictures.
