Disney conjures scribe for ‘Witch’

Kulakow to adapt, update '75 pic

NEW YORK — The Walt Disney Co. has enlisted Adam Kulakow to adapt and update “Escape to Witch Mountain,” from the 1975 Disney pic of the same name.

Kulakow will be paid low- against mid-six figures for his chores.

Based on the book by Alexander Key, the original pic was helmed by John Hough and starred Eddie Albert and Ray Milland. Story centered on an orphan brother and sister who are psychic.

Disney’s director of production, Doug Short, will oversee the project. Repped by Broder Kurland Webb Uffner, Kulakow sold “Agent Joe” to Fox 2000 (currently out to directors) and “Ashes to Ashes” to Disney-based Spyglass.
