Dimension Films has acquired the action pitch “Alone in the Dark,” from writer Hans Rodionoff.
Based on the Infogrames/DarkWorks videogames of the same name, “Alone” pitch is based on the fourth installment of the 2 million-plus selling franchise that helped invent the survival/horror gaming genre. “Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare” was released in June for all gaming platforms.
Pitch storyline follows a pair of supernatural investigators stranded on an island. As the couple searches for three magical tablets, they are haunted and attacked by ghoulish, shadow-dwelling creatures.
Don Murphy and his veepee, Rick Benattar, will produce via Murphy’s Col-based Angry Films banner. Duo most recently produced the Jack-the-Ripper thriller “From Hell” for 20th Century Fox, which opens this month.
Dimension topper Bob Weinstein and Andrew Rona will oversee the pic with Ken Park, director of development at Dimension.
Rodionoff, who is also adapting the Marvel comicbook “Man-Thing” for Artisan, was repped in the deal by ICM and manager Jillian Michaels.
