Dimension Films has named Josh Greenstein head of marketing.
Move fills the vacuum left by the recent departure of Miramax marketing prexy Dennis Rice, who oversaw marketing for both Miramax and Dimension.
It’s also part of the Miramax genre label’s expansion in the wake of a stream of hits like “Spy Kids” and “Scary Movie.”
Miramax co-head Bob Weinstein, who runs Dimension, already has a dedicated production and publicity staff. Greenstein will spearhead a new Dimension marketing department and plans to hire a handful of marketing execs to fill out his staff.
Greenstein, who has worked in Bob Weinstein’s office since 1999, is considered a protege of the company co-chair.
“Josh has an acute sensibility in the specialized marketing for our genre,” said Weinstein.
In the past, Greenstein has worked with Weinstein on the marketing campaigns for pics like “Scream 3,” “Scary Movie” and “Spy Kids,” and he is already at work on the campaigns for forthcoming Dimension releases “Scary Movie 2,” “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” and “The Others.”
